Our History

40+ Years of Excellence

For over 40 years, Vista has delivered exceptional lighting and plastics solutions across multiple industries. From production, delivery, and installation, we know what it takes to get the job done right.

1979
Jim Tieszen, co-founder, discovered "strip lighting" on touring motorcycles and envisioned a broader market for it. He enlisted his brother, Dwayne, to design and manufacture parts, and together they launched Vista in Wichita, Kansas.
1981
Vista relocated to Elkhart, Indiana, to be closer to their major customer, a CB antenna company using Vista's lights in their antennas.
1982-1984
Vista expanded its reach by supplying strip lights and lighting panels to the conversion van industry and truck stops.
1985
Recognizing new opportunities, Vista established a division in Texas to cover the South and West Coast, while venturing into architectural and commercial markets, supplying hotels and movie theaters.
1989
Vista embraced innovation by purchasing blue LEDs as a potential alternative to incandescent bulbs.
2005
Consolidating operations, Vista moved production for all markets except aviation to its Elkhart, Indiana facility.
2009
Vista established Vista Worldwide to supply the appliance industry with incandescent bulbs. The company also formed a team in China to support partner factories with processes and quality assurance.
2010
Vista implemented a new QMS (quality management system) system and shifted focus from decorative to functional lighting, paving the way for further advancements.
2013
Vista united its employees under one roof by moving into a new 38k sq. ft facility, fostering collaboration and efficiency.
2019
Vista introduced the innovative Vista Connect app, combining controllable Bluetooth technology with their high-quality and cost-effective lighting solutions.
2021
With remarkable growth, Vista expanded its operations by 22k sq. ft, ensuring their continued success in the lighting industry.
2021
On May 17, 2021, Vista Manufacturing, Inc. acquired American Vinyl & Rubber, Inc. and renamed the division Vista Plastics, LLC.
2023
Vista receives ISO 9001:2015 certification.
